Hey! I’m Melissa. Welcome to The Global Ghana Girl – a travel and lifestyle blog for young professionals.
I’m a New Jersey-based content creator who is always looking for my next adventure. I’m a corporate communications professional by day, and on the weekends, I love to explore new places, especially local hidden gems.
Here you’ll find travel tips and guides to inspire your next trip, helpful tips for balancing travel with your career, exciting destination guides, photography tips, and more. I’m so happy you’re here!
My story
Travel has been a huge part of my life since my childhood. My parents always made sure to expose us to new places, whether it was a new town or a new state. This instilled a love of travel in me that continued into my young adult years.
During my junior year of college, I had the opportunity to study abroad in Thailand for a few weeks during the summer. This was my first solo trip as well as my first time traveling abroad. I was extremely nervous, but also really excited to experience this new adventure. I’m so happy that I pushed myself out of my comfort zone and was able to experience the beauty of Thai culture. Thailand will always have a special place in my heart, and I hope to revisit it soon.
To date, I have visited 8 countries and 26 states. My favorite places that I’ve visited are Thailand, Canada, Dubai, and Ghana.
I currently work full-time in corporate communications, and on the weekends I run my blog and photography business. Feel free to view my photography work here. One of my favorite things to do on my off days is to explore local hidden gems. When I started working full-time after college, I knew that I still wanted to make travel a priority. To this day, I try my best to maximize my vacation days and utilize resources that will help me get the most out of my travels.
My mission
Ultimately, I created this blog to help busy, young professionals do the same. I believe that there’s more to life than the 9 to 5 and that adventure can be found anywhere – whether in your backyard or across the globe. Travel provides us the opportunity to recharge, experience other cultures, and connect with new people. I truly enjoy sharing my advice and tips with others who would like to travel more often. My mission is to help you easily incorporate more travel into your life while expanding your horizons and embracing new adventures – near or far. On my blog, you’ll find travel tips and guides, hidden gems around the tri-state area, food guides, and photography tips.
