Visit the Chester County Welcome Center

Looking for things to do during your trip? Make your way to the Chester County Welcome Center, located inside the beautifully restored Historic Chester County Courthouse. The giant floor map and immersive touch-screen displays help you orient yourself within the region, while the mini theater gives you a cinematic taste of all that the Brandywine Valley has to offer. At the Welcome Center, you’ll also find friendly staff and a plethora of valuable free resources. It’s both educational and inspiring, offering a preview of the extraordinary experiences awaiting in the Brandywine Valley. This is the perfect place to begin your adventure or plan your next one!
Art Immersion at the Brandywine Museum of Art

Next, it’s time to dive into American art at The Brandywine Museum of Art. Nestled along the Brandywine Creek in Chadds Ford, this museum showcases three generations of Wyeth family works as well as rotating galleries throughout the year. While there, don’t miss the guided N.C. Wyeth House and Studio Tour, which provides an intimate look at the life and works of N. C. Wyeth. Stepping back in time to learn how the family lived and viewing the studio where his masterpieces were created is truly an incredible experience.
Enjoy Dinner at Limoncello

Downtown West Chester’s open-air market is a fantastic place to grab a bite for dinner. Enjoy authentic Italian cuisine at Limoncello or visit one of the other numerous restaurants in the square (there are over 65 restaurants, bars, and eateries to choose from). At Limoncello, we loved the Ricotta Board, Meat Lasagna, and Spaghetti with Meatballs.
Nightcap at Room 109 Speakeasy

End the day with a well-crafted cocktail back at Hotel Indigo’s Room 109 Speakeasy. With a historic vibe and warm ambiance, it’s the perfect spot to unwind after a long day of exploring.

Day 2
Visit Baldwin’s Book Barn

Head to the charming Baldwin’s Book Barn, a distinctive, quirky bookstore situated in a barn that features over 300,000 used and rare books, and manuscripts, as well as fine paintings, prints, estate antiques, and maps. The five-story building was built in 1822 and features stone walls, a wood-burning stove, cozy nooks, and is the perfect spot for bibliophiles to explore.
Lunch at White Dog Cafe

For brunch or lunch, head to White Dog Cafe, which features whimsical, canine-inspired decor. The menu celebrates locally sourced, seasonal ingredients, with vibrant flavors and something for every palate. If you’re looking for a farm-to-table restaurant serving contemporary American cuisine, then this spot is for you!
Evening in Bloom at Longwood Gardens

No visit to the region is complete without a stop at the renowned Longwood Gardens. Wander through acres of manicured gardens, topiary masterpieces, and unique conservatories.
Don’t forget to see their dazzling Illuminated Fountain Performances – it’s a captivating show that lights up the night sky with vibrant colors and exciting music. View the festival schedule here.

Looking for an amazing dining experience at Longwood Gardens? Then be sure to check out their stunning on-site restaurant, 1906, which features an upscale ambiance and refined cuisine. Enjoy appetizers – like the Grilled Watermelon, Crispy Fried Chicken, and Corn Croquettes – while sipping on garden-inspired herbal elixirs. Our favorites included the Peaches & Cream, Passionate About Hibiscus, and Berries & Tonic.
Day 3
Brunch at West Chester Seafood Kitchen

On the final day, start with brunch at West Chester Seafood, which offers a variety of inventive, seafood-forward options like their Maine lobster roll and Chesapeake Bay crab omelet, as well as classic brunch favorites like pancakes and waffles. With an inviting, nautical-themed ambiance and fantastic service, it’s an ideal place to fuel up for the day! We enjoyed the Sticky Thai Caramel Wings, Crispy Buttermilk Chicken Sandwich, Lemon Ricotta Pancakes, and Floral Refresher and Fly Me to the Moon cocktails.
Explore Winterthur Museum, Garden, and Library

Round off your arts escape with a cultural treasure: Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library. It was once the home of Henry Francis du Pont, and the estate is now a world-renowned museum of decorative arts. Tour the exquisitely furnished home that brings history alive and explore 60 acres of spectacular gardens.
Don’t miss the rotating exhibits as well. Current offerings include:
Almost Unknown, The Afric-American Picture Gallery (on view through January 4, 2026), Bearing Witness (ongoing), Conversations With the Collection (ongoing), and Outside In (ongoing).
Winterthur is one of my favorite attractions to visit in the area, and beautifully ties together art, history, and culture.
Enjoy Shopping and Dining in Downtown West Chester

Before leaving town, enjoy some boutique shopping and dining in Downtown West Chester‘s wide variety of boutique shops and eateries. A few places we enjoyed visiting are The Green House, Bookstore Bakery, Sedona Taphouse, and Rose’s Little Donuts.
